Having spent most of my cooking career in New Your City, one can get a little spoiled. So many options and so many great resources from fresh fish and farmers markets and meats. It very hard when you leave this area of great options.

When I first got back to the south this year I really had a hard time. Walking into a walk-in here in any kitchen was always disappointing compared to my New York walk-in. Coast lines are so important for fresh and great varity of items.

With the limited number of vendors and one of the only options sometimes is Sysco, Yes I said that name we chef's call the can store, then you have to go way back old school and start doing your work to find all the best resorces close to you that you can find. I found one such place here that some of you may already know and if not your going to want to get to know.

Well let me introduce you to www.greendoorgourmet.com located just outside of Nashville along the Cumberland River. With 350 acres of certifed organic farming and an event venue along with an amazing Farm Store full of many surprises by over 100 artisan producers and growers in middle Tennesse they have picked to feature in their store. From fresh farm eggs to a variety of pickled veggies and jams and buttters and honey and so much more you have to visit to fall in love.

With so many chemicals being sparyed on our produce and so many harmful things used to get the right color and size. It is great to have a place you can go to and buy local fresh clean and chemical clean food to feed your family.

I must say my favorite thing at Green Door Gourmet is the amazing Farm Box ! What is that you ask..... well sometime a pictures tells a thounds words.

Amazing right! Seasonal fresh and beautiful this box is the 25.00 box you can pick up once a week of items the farm has picked that week. My roommate and I make one box work between us and grab a few extra items in the store that last us a week. There is also a 50.00 box option as well.

This farm and its love and growth are all the brain child of the amazing and loving Sylvia and Al Ganier. Sylvia a former chef herself, is warm and lovely. With in the first few mins of meeting her you know she is the farm.

So what are you waiting for get out to the farm and visit the web page. You will soon be rolling in fresh items and head full of ideas of what to make for dinner.
